Despite opposition from their parents, they decided to carve their future in their own style. Now these teenagers, who have created their own rock band ‘Dark Veda’ and have over 1,000 followers on the social networking site Facebook, have managed to bag laurels for their compositions.

There are six members in the band — Manas Yadav (vocalist), Kushagra Mansingh (guitarist), Ankush Venkatesh (guitarist) Abhilas Ganesh (bassist) and Arjun Saxena (drummer). And all are students of Class 12 and preparing for various competitive exams. Despite this, they manage to practise two to three hours a day.

They are not only good performers on stage, but they also compose music and pen the lyrics. They composed their first song in January last year. Though these musicians have released only two songs so far, they are ready with eight more tracks and soon plan to release their album.

“It's like a dream come true. I am learning Indian classical music since childhood. But in Class 5, I realised that I have a taste for rock music and since then I wanted to have this,” Manas, 18, said.

Kushagra started learning guitar at the age of 13. “When I shared these things with my parents they were simply concerned about my studies. But I managed to keep a balance between both.” Arjun, another member, said, “We tried to keep a balance between our studies and our passion and have managed to do that.”
