A 25-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped in a moving car after her husband was held hostage at gunpoint on Wednesday.
The Mumbai-based couple was in Bhopal to visit Sant Asa Ram Bapu’s ashram in the Gandhinagar area. As they were not getting any conveyance to return to their lodge, they accepted a lift from four people on an Innova.
The complainant, who has a travel agency in Mumbai, told the police the four — in the age group of 35-45 — held him at gunpoint and took turns to rape his wife.
The police have launched a hunt to trace the Innova car and the culprits. “Two bracelets of the accused were recovered from where the couple was pushed off the car,” said Superintendent of Police, Jaideep Prasad.
“When the couple was thrown, the bracelets too fell. They have names of Sattu and Mukesh, etched on them,” he added.
