Chief Justice of India YK Sabharwal on Tuesday appealed to the legislatures to make 'good laws' with a hope that they could be implemented honestly.
"Everyone has to work within the framework of law and Constitution, which is our prime duty. Legislature has to make good laws, the executive has to implement, implement it honestly in true letter and spirit and with all bonafide," he said after unfurling the national flag at the Supreme Court, which celebrated Independence Day for the first time.
Dispelling the notion that the judiciary was against other organs of democracy, the CJI said all of them are working in co-operation.
"There cannot be any verses within inverted commas and when I say this they are all to work in co-operation," he said adding that both the legislature and the judiciary were doing "what is expected of them and there is always a scope for improvement".
