A cloudburst hit the rear the Holy Amarnath cave on Sunday afternoon damaging three tents of pilgrims. But there was no loss of life.
The cloud burst behind Baltal mountain ridge triggered a sudden rise in the water level of a stream flowing nearby. “Three tents were damaged in the incident. People were quickly evacuated to safety,” said a police spokesman.
No loss of life was reported, he added.
The 60-day yatra will culminate on August 24 without any major hitch despite curfew, strikes and protests in Kashmir.
The annual pilgrimage, which began on July 1, continues without any interruption. Over 4, 55,652 yatris had paid obeisance at the Holy cave so far.
The two month pilgrimage is expected to end by August 24. Last year around 400,000 pilgrims from across the India visited the cave.
