Expressing concern at the serial killing by the mysterious 'stoneman', Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Friday ordered a probe into the incident while the pavement dwellers decided to approach the Human Rights Commission.
Gogoi directed the Kamrup (metro) deputy commissioner and superintendent of police to ensure security of pavement dwellers in the wake of the 'serial killing' by a person dubbed as 'stoneman' in the city.
The chief minister said all steps would be taken to ensure security of the people living on the pavements and urged the authorities to submit the report of the probe at the earliest.
Meanwhile the pavement dwellers of the city have decided to move the Assam Human Rights Commission (AHRC)to compel the authorities to take action against the killings.
Some of the beggars have also decided to keep night vigil in the city to thwart the attempt of the serial killer to strike again.
