Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda on Wednesday rejected the opposition demand for a CBI probe into the drowning of BIT student Abhishek Mishra and asked them to keep faith in the state investigating agency.
He was reacting to the opposition demand for a CBI probe into the incident that has forced six adjournments in two days.
Koda described how two eyewitnesses, Basant Munda and Doman Munda, had narrated to the police about the sequence of the incident in which they saw Abhishek drowning and informed Ragini who had accompanied the picnic team on December 8 when she and her friends were searching for Abhishek.
Ragini, daughter of RJD chief Lalu Prasad, immediately called up Abhishek's father to intimate him about the tragedy, Koda said and added it was Abhishek's friends who reached Bundu police station, under which Dassam falls is situated, and informed the police as well.
Stating that he had been informed about the incident over phone when he was in New Delhi for the NDC meeting, Koda said the police and the district administration rushed to the spot as soon as the incident came to light.
Regretting the opposition's continued disruption of the house on "baseless" matters, Koda said it was because of the opposition that the house could not debate on the crucial power scenario in the state on Tuesday.
Raking up the issue for the second day on Wednesday, Leader of Opposition Arjun Munda said they had been demanding a CBI probe into the incident to ascertain "whether it was a suicide or an accident or a murder."
The Speaker later adjourned the house for the day following a relentless opposition demanding CBI probe in the second session.
