CM reviews arrangements for Haj pilgrimage

Chief minister Omar Abdullah on Friday chaired a high-level meeting and reviewed the arrangements put in place by the state hajj committee and various state and central government departments for the Haj pilgrims from the state.
The CM was informed that flights from Srinagar to Madina will operate from September 7 to September 23. The corresponding inward flights will operate from October 20 to November 5. There will be two flights daily with a capacity of 275 pilgrims in each flight. The flights will operate directly from Srinagar to Madina Munawara. A total number of 8,664 pilgrims are proceeding for Haj this year.
The director health said that vaccination against meningitis, polio and influenza for the pilgrims would start from August 29.
In the presentation made by secretary state Haj committee, Fayaz Ahmad, it was stated that arrangements for transportation of Haj pilgrims from Jammu have been finalised. He said accommodation of Jammu pilgrims at Haj House, Jammu. He said arrangements for boarding and lodging of 200 pilgrims were available at Haj House Srinagar. He said measures had also been put in place to provide uninterrupted power supply to Haj House. He said two X-ray machines are being installed at Haj House Srinagar for screening of baggage.
The CM directed the officials to ensure that the pilgrims faced no problems and their stay and travel from and to the state was hassle-free and comfortable.
The CM expressed gratitude to the union government for operating direct Haj flights from Srinagar, adding that it facility had relieved the pilgrims from various difficulties and hassles.
Minister for Haj and auqaf, Peerzada Mohammad Sayed, members of the Haj committee, various administrative secretaries, heads of the departments and senior officers participated in the meeting.
