FORMER MINISTER and Congress MLA Ajay Singh on Tuesday said the tragedy in Datia district in which some 37 persons lost their lives underlined the inability of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to control the administration in an effective manner.
Singh said the incident could well have been averted if the district administration showed concern about life and safety of pilgrims going for darshan at Godess Durga’s temple. But, the district administration was caught off-guard as there is no fear of the Government and the laxity goes unpunished.
Referring to a similar tragedy at Dharaji in Dewas district, Singh said the State Government had failed to take action against the officers then as well. No action has been taken against any senior officer of Datia in this case, he added.
