The race for chief ministership in Rajasthan turned ugly on Thursday with supporters of Ashok Gehlot and Jat leader Sis Ram Ola clashing ahead of the Congress Legislature Party meeting in Jaipur to decide the new leader.

Scores of slogan-shouting supporters of the two leaders exchanged blows at the Khasa Kothi Guesthouse where AICC observers Digvijay Singh, Madhusudan Mistri, Vivek Bansal, Virendra Singh and Mukul Vasnik were holding talks before the CLP meeting.

No one was, however, injured in the incident, police said.

Supporters of PCC chief C P Joshi, who lost the Nathdwara seat by one vote, were also involved in the melee.

The clashes took place even as there was speculation that a compromise had been worked out under which Gehlot will be the chief minister and Union Minister Ola will be his deputy.
