After losing four assembly seats in the Vidhan sabha polls, the first tour of the chief minister in Pachhad, Nahan and Paonta Sahib constituencies seems to be significant in political scenario of Sirmaur district.
Once the district was considered as strong bastion of the Congress, but today the BJP have three MLAs from the district, whereas the Congress has only one.
Singh will address two public meetings at Bara Chowk and Majra in Nahan constituencies on September 17 and 18, the constituency which is represented by BJP leader and MLA Dr Rajeev Bindal.
Residents of Nahan taught that the CM would not visit this constituency as Bindal represents the assembly segment, but the chief minister not only allowed two public meetings, but also okayed the inauguration of two buildings in the district headquarters, showing his affections towards the constituency.
The two loyalists of the CM- vice-chairman of the planning commission Gangu Ram Mussafir and Himfed chairman Kanwar Ajay Bahadur Singh - are not leaving any stone unturned for making the tour of CM a success.
On September 18, the chief minister would visit Paonta Sahib constituency, which is represented by Congress associate member Karnesh Jung, who is also trying demonstrate his strength in the home constituency. In Paonta Sahib, the chief minister would inaugurate the chamber of commerce building and disaster recovery data centre.
SP Sumedha Dwivedi said successful trial of landing of helicopter was performed on Wednesday.
Landing of CM's helicopter
The administration utilised the dumping site temporarily for the landing of CM's helicopter at Kawag Dhar near Sarhan, about 47 km from here, or Dharmpur (Solan) helipad was to be utilised. On Wednesday a successful trial of landing was performed at the temporary helipad. The CM would also lay the foundation stone of helipad at Sarhan on September 17. The dumping site was identified for the widening of Kumarhatti-Nahan road by the Road Infrastructure Development Corporation, which has now being used as helipad.
