Coastguard intercepts boats carrying 15 Lankan Tamils

Fifteen SL tamils, who were sailing in two High-speed boats, were intercepted by Indian Coastguard personnel and brought to the Mandapam station in Rameswaram for interrogation.

Fifteen Sri Lankan tamils, who were sailing in two High-speed boats, were intercepted by Indian Coastguard personnel between Pamban and Arichalmunai and brought to the Mandapam station in Rameswaram for interrogation.

The two boats, spotted near Arichalmunai, was proceeding towards Pamban coast.The coastguard personnel, who got suspicious, intercepted the boats, Coastguard Assistant Commander RP Singh said.

He told PTI that those who were taken into custody were neither fishermen nor refugees and were being interrogated.
