For those interested in jazzing up their home with movie memorabilia, high-end collectibles from the Renaissance or ancient Greek, dreaded words like customs and shipping and dependence on that cousin who lives abroad are now a thing of the past. The website, www.collectorsheritage.com, whose e-store went live at the end of 2012, is now offering these artifacts on desi shores.
“Our family has always been into meticulously researching and producing historically accurate reproductions of edged weapons, armour, and clothing from different eras,” says Prateek Gupta, chief marketing officer, Collectors Heritage. “We offered these items to customers abroad and my friends always asked why we didn’t sell them in India.” Seeing the increasing awareness about such items in India, Gupta felt that this was a good time to open shop here. Items in the store start at Rs 700 and go up to Rs 90,000.
You can purchase collectibles like suits of armours, statues and sculptures and other similar items from eras ranging from the Renaissance and ancient Greece to the American Civil War and even the Viking times. You can also get your hands on licensed Hollywood memorabilia from films like The Lord of the Rings (LOTR), Harry Potter and Star Wars franchises, 300 (2006) and Gladiator (2000), among others. “Harry’s robes, the one ring that binds them all from LOTR and Gerard Butler’s helmet are fast sellers. However, our older audience seems to be into memorabilia from Conan The Barbarian (1982),” says Gupta. The website has a 15-day return policy. “We are also looking into getting into Indian history soon,” says Gupta.
