Three bikers were killed when their motorcycle rammed into a truck coming from the opposite direction near Hassanpur in Palwal district on Saturday.
The accident occurred at 6am when three youths on a motorcycle were on their way to Hassanpur from Palwal and had a head-on collision with a truck near Digot, killing them on the spot.
The collision was so severe that the truck overturned and subsequently caught fire. Though the reports said the locals set the truck on fire after the incident, police deny it saying the fire was caused on its own due to impact of the collision.
The deceased were identified as Deep Chand, Anil and Amar Chand — all in the age group of 25 to 30 years, belonging to Kanwarka village in Palwal.
The bodies were rushed to a near-by hospital and were handed over to the respective families after post-mortem. The reports said that the villagers staged dharna on Palwal-Hassanpur road for some time and also caused damage to a police vehicle.
“Three youth were killed in an accident when a rashly driven truck collided head-on with their motorcycle,” sail Anil Dhawan, superintendent of police, Palwal. He denied that the mob set the truck on fire, saying the truck caught fire after it overturned.
The driver of the truck fled from the spot and Palwal Sadar police station has registered a case against the unknown driver in this connection.
