In an attempt to give a different perspective to Indian elections, a group of six Indian students of Columbia University have launched a website tailored to become a platform for a variety of voices on what election means to them.

TheFiveFortyFive.com, a single-subject website on the Indian general election, launched on Monday by students of Columbia Journalism school, is a combination of interesting stories with charts, graphics and visuals.

"We found a new perspective while looking at Indian politics from a different country. We have been exposed to data journalism and wanted to give a different perspective to Indian election. Our USP is good, clean, visual representation of our story," Anand Katakam one of the students told HT.

Agrees Iva Dixit. "There is a lot of information on Indian elections which no one was paying attention to. We wanted to bring this out for online consumption."

But why the number 545? "That's the number of seats in Lok Sabha. Some may say 543, but the president can nominate two members," she said.

Analysing the recent TV interview of Rahul Gandhi one of the posts reads: "It took him 10 years to sit down for a TV interview. Once he did, Rahul Gandhi said "system" 72 times. Yes, we counted. What's more worrying is that the man who could become India's next Prime Minister only used the word "economy" once."

The 2014 Rally Tracker : Narendra Modi vs Rahul Gandhi on the campaign trail is another interesting read.

The site hit 500 likes on Facebook in just about 36 hours.
