The National Security Guard (NSG) is enabling its Black Cat commandos to undertake daring operations, such as the killing of Osama Bin Laden in a hostile terrain. These new-age commandos will be at par with other elite special forces of the world.
After the NSG’s Raising Day celebrations, its DG RK Medhekar said the force will be ready with around 2,000 new-age commandos by 2015-16.
They will be capable of operating independently in hostile terrain. They will also use customised weapons. The new-age NSG commandos will be able to stream live images of an operation, like the US Navy Seals had done while in Bin Laden's compound.
“The project requires a lot of work... We are doing it in collaboration with DRDO and artificial intelligence institutes,” said Medhekar. htc
