C.S. Panchamakesan (63) wanted to be a Commonwealth Games volunteer since he learnt four years back that Delhi was going to host them.
“On every birthday, we add age to our life. For me the Games are a way to add life to my age,” he said.
Panchamakesan is usually the most enthusiastic volunteer in the room, asking questions frequently and answering questions he knows the answers to.
“I am committed to be a good
host during the Games,” said the retired State Bank of India general manager.
He has been assigned the duty of distributing uniforms before and during the Games. While many in his training group were disappointed at getting a duty that would end before the Games, Panchamakesan was thrilled.
Panchamakesan’s two daughters and wife are delighted that he is a volunteer. “Some of my friends are jealous of me. My wife wanted me to devote as much time as I could for the Games so I have volunteered to devote more than eight hours daily,” he added.
