The ruling Trinamool has downplayed the incident saying Rezzak is enacting a drama lying in the hospital bed. While speaking to reporters, state municipal affairs minister Firhad Hakim said, “Rezzak is enacting a drama lying on the bed of a luxurious hospital. He will take rest there for few days instead of going to a state government hospital like SSKM.”

According to a senior administrative officer of the hospital, “Doctors led by SK Dubey, general surgeon, performed two stitches on his lower lip. One of his teeth was broken while several others were badly damaged. Lower potion of his left eye got swollen. A three-member team of doctors has been formed for his treatment.”

“He has undergone several investigations like X-ray and ECG. No major ailments were found so far. Several other tests will also be performed to check whether his bones got fractured or broken. He complained of severe pain on waist and lower limb. Doctors have administered injections as painkillers and IV fluid as emergency treatment.”

“He has sustained severe injuries after Arabul Islam and his men pinned him down and attacked him. He was bleeding profusely from mouth. Police rescued him and he was taken to the hospital in his car. The attackers did not even spare his car. They have broken the windscreen badly,” Ganguly said after visiting Rezzak in hospital.
