india Updated: Mar 21, 2009 00:24 IST

The ruling Congress and Opposition BJP in Arunachal Pradesh today appealed to NSCN groups to refrain from factional fighting in Tirap district bordering Nagaland and Myanmer.

Urging the NSCN(IM) and NSCN(K) to stop fighting with each other, Congress spokesman Nabam Rebia told media persons that the state government is taking all steps under the guidance of the Centre for bringing back peace.

The sitting BJP MP in Arunachal East Tapir Gao and former home minister L Wanglat also made a similar appeal to the NSCN factions to stop fighting.

Clashes between NSCN factions going on since March 12 reportedly claimed at least three lives.

Tirap and adjoining Changlang districts have been declared disturbed under the Armed Forces Special Power Act.
