Cong blames Govt for urea crisis

india Updated: Dec 20, 2006 02:37 IST

CONGRESS on Tuesday blamed the ‘erratic’ supply system of the State Government for fertiliser crisis in Madhya Pradesh. State Congress spokesperson Manak Agrawal, while refuting the State Government’s charge that not enough fertilisers were given to MP by the Centre, said that the Central Government had given enough stock of fertilisers to the State Government but its ‘erratic’ supply system has led to fertiliser crisis all over the State.

He said that 140 wagons of urea were supplied to the State last month but eight wagons from it were still lying at the Bhopal railway station.

Agrawal said that BJP Government in MP was shifting blame on the Centre for its failure to fetch fertilisers to the farmers in adequate quantity and said it should rather correct its supply system to overcome fertiliser crisis gripping large parts of the State.
