BJP on Wednesday alleged that Congress and BSP have entered into an understanding in Uttar Pradesh to “frame” its leader Varun Gandhi, against whom National Security Act has been invoked.
“What Varun is facing is a bailable offence and there is no need to slap NSA on him. While terrorists are having a free day, SIMI activists walking around freely and Pakistan flag being hoisted blatantly within India, this boy is being unnecessarily cornered,” senior BJP leader M Venkaiah Naidu alleged at a press conference here.
Quoting media reports, Naidu said gangster Chhota Shakeel had ordered Varun Gandhi’s elimination and “allotted” the work to his key shooter Rasheed Malbari, whom the Mangalore police arrested yesterday.
Even as BJP condemned Gandhi’s detention under NSA, Naidu sought a similar action against senior state Congress leader Kagodu Thimmappa for his alleged remarks that hands of proponents of Hindutva should be “cut”.
Naidu demanded Thimmappa’s arrest and said “it is a fit case to be dealt with under NSA”.
