As many as 45 candidates, who are in the fray for the fourth phase of UP assembly election have declared their assets, some of whom are worth more than rupees one crore each. On the other hand there are 14 candidates who have declared their assets 'nil' in their affidavits.
“Out of total 45 candidates, who are in the fray for the fourth phase of assembly election, SP has fielded 12 such candidates whereas Bahujan Samaj Party has fielded 9 such candidates who have declared their assets worth more than a crore rupees each in their affidavits”, the report says.
“Similarly, Bharatiya Janata Party and Indian National Congress (INC) have fielded 7 and 6 such candidates respectively who have declared their assets worth more than rupees one crore each in their affidavits,” the report further adds.
As per reports of UP Election watch, a Congress candidate from Colonganj constituency, Ajay Pratap Singh alias Lalla Bhaiya topped the lists of crorepatis in this phase with his assets worth Rs 31.86 crores in an affidavit.
Singh has declared movable assets of worth Rs 11,18, 97,603 and immovable assets worth Rs 30,74,30,000 in his affidavit. He also has the distinction of being the candidate with the highest liability worth Rs 1,05,83,645.
To recall, Congress had fielded the richest candidate, BM Singh for the third phase of assembly election from Puranpur assembly segment in Pilibhit district. He had declared assets worth Rs 374.80 crore.
