Alleging that the National Conference has failed to come to the expectations of the masses in the state, Congress candidate from the Jammu east assembly seat Vikram Malhotra on Friday said that the state had undergone the worst ever period in the last six years.

Malhotra said the situation arose as all the development agenda initiated by the Congress during its tenure in 2005 were exposed to hurdles by the NC during the present coalition regime. He said even in coalition when the Congress proposed something for the betterment of the people, the NC created hurdles.

Malhotra also blamed the PDP and the BJP for dividing the people on communal lines for the sake of votes.
Exuding confidence of his win, he said, "If I am elected, I will ensure that your bad days are over."

Along with his supporters, the Congress candidate on Friday toured several areas of his constituency, including Mastgarh and Christian Colony and met the people from all walks of life.
