Cong MLA murder case: Case registered against seven

Madhya Pradesh police has registered a case against seven persons in connection with the murder of Congress MLA Makhan Lal Jatav, a top police official said on Friday.

Two accused -- Narayan Sharma and Shera Kaurav -- were detained on Tuesday while others are still at large, Bhind Superintendent of Police Abhay Singh said.

The other five accused are Narayan’s father Pappu alias Mewaram Sharma, Ramroop Gurjar, Ghandarv Kaurav, Sheti Kaurav and Kedar Kaurav, he said.

Shera was booked under Section 25 and 27 of Arms Act while six others were charged for murder, Singh said. Police has launched a manhunt to nab the accused, the SP added.

Unidentified assailants shot dead Jatav on April 13 when was coming after addressing an election meeting at village Cheheta.

Meanwhile, in view of the MLA’s killing, some other political leaders in the dacoit-affected Chambal range have sought additional security cover, police sources said.
