The Hyberabad police have formed teams to arrest Arjun Yadav, husband of Secunderabad MP M Anjan Kumar Yadav's niece, B Mayuri(25), who was found charred to death in a locked room in her in-laws home at Raidurgam on the city outskirts on Sunday evening.
Assistant commissioner of police, Madhapur, K Goverdhan Reddy said that Arjun Yadav as well as his parents are absconding after the incident and police has formed teams to arrest them.
He said police have registered a case of dowry death (under Section 304-B of IPC) against Arjun and his parents after Mayuri`s parents alleged that she was murdered by them for dowry.
B Mayuri was the daughter of the MP's elder brother M. Raghu Kumar Yadav and was married for the past five years to Arjun Yadav, who is into diary business. The couple have three children, Nitya Sri (3), Dharma Teja (2) and 11-month-old Sai Teja.
On Sunday evening, locals saw smoke emanating from the house and rushed in to help. They found Mayuri’s room locked from inside and thick smoke coming from it. They immediately broke open the doors and found her dead. Arjun was not in the house at the time of incident though his sisters and others were present.
On hearing Mayuri`s suicide news, her parents and relatives gathered at Arjuns house. They charged the husband and in-laws of killing their daughter and attacked the house, damaging furniture and fixtures. A clash ensued with family members of Arjun retaliating. Police however managed to bring things under control.
Police said that the couple had a tiff earlier in the day over attending a function at her sister`s house.
Meanwhile deceased`s brother Manoj, alleged that Arjun`s family did not inform them of her death immediately.“We got the information one hour late. We suspect she was murdered by her in-laws,” Manoj said.
Manoj alleged that Arjun and his parents started harassing Mayuri for additional dowry within months of her marriage.“We gave gold jewellery, cash and other articles at the time of marriage and cash several times since then to settle problems between the couple,” he charged.
“For the past 3-4 years, there were differences between the couple. The parents of Mayuri had earlier approached some elders complaining of dowry harassment, though no formal complaints was lodged with the police," the ACP Govardhan Reddy said.
The incident comes just a week after Union Minister Jaipal Reddy's niece, Kiran, was allegedly killed by her husband.
