BJP President Rajnath Singh on Thursday alleged that the Congress was "hell-bent" on creating an issue of Muslim versus Hindu terrorism in the country in the name of Malegaon blast.
"For the sake of power, Congress is raising the issue of Hindu terrorism versus Muslim terrorism which is really unfortunate," Singh told reporters after arriving here to take part in November 27-assembly poll campaign.
He further alleged the Congress was trying to communalise the issue of terrorism and trying to play with fire and destroying the nation's social fabric, all in the name of power.
Ten persons including Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur, Lt Col Prasad Purohit and religious leader Dayanand Pandey have been arrested so far in connection with the blast.
To a question, the BJP president, without naming the sadhvi, said his party was not trying to shield anyone but a person should not be defamed until proven guilty by courts.
He refused to comment on the probe conducted by Maharashtra ATS into the Malegaon blast, but added that it was a conspiracy of those in power.
Singh also denied that the BJP was trying to influence the probe into the Malegaon blast by coming out openly in support of the sadhvi.
Several UPA leaders have described the encounter at Batla House in Delhi as fake and demanded a judicial probe into it, when a brave officer like MC Sharma was martyred while fighting against terrorists, Singh said.
Was it not an intervention on their part in the probe at that time? he asked.
