The Congress has blamed Madhya Pradesh's BJP government for the shortage of coal, leading to a fall in power production in the state.
The Shivraj Singh Chouhan government was trying to evade its responsibility on the issue, party General Secretary Digvijay Singh told reporters in Guna on Friday.
He said all the power reforms that were initiated in Madhya Pradesh when he was the Chief Minister had been brought to a halt.
These reforms included installation of electricity meter in every house, Singh said, adding the plant load factor had come down in Madhya Pradesh during the BJP rule.
The BJP won the November 2008 Assembly elections by promising to solve the power crisis in the state within 100 days, but nothing had been done as yet, the Congress leader said.
