Former Haryana minister and two-time Congress legislator Khairati Lal Sharma, who had resigned from the chairmanship of the state Gau Seva Ayog on Thursday, joined Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) here on Saturday.
Sharma, who was accompanied by INLD leader Abhey Chautala and state president Ashok Arora, told mediapersons that it was his duty to join his old friend INLD supremo Om Prakash Chautala's struggle.
“Dheeraj, dharm, mitra aur nari ki pariksha sankat ke waqt hi hoti hai (Patience, religion (duty), friends and women are best tested in adverse times).”
“I realised my duty to stand with Chautala when I met him at Medanta hospital in Gurgaon,” he said. “Now I have taken admission in the first class of the INLD university'', he said.
Sharma, who represented Shahbad constituency in Kurukshetra district, said after resigning from the Congress he told state chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda that he would join INLD. “I told Hooda that I will anyways continue to work for the welfare of cows',” Sharma added.
