“During our tour, wherever we reached, we gave the slogan bring the Congress back to save democracy,” he said. The slogan was very much appreciated by the of the state, Maheshwari said.

He said that during the Yatra, several meetings were organized. The speakers said that the Congress was not only a political party but also a way of life as it believed in peace and non-violence.

When asked about the objective of the Yatra, Maheshwari said, “We are of the view that commercialisation of politics must come to an end. During the Yatra, we have noticed that the people wanted change and the undercurrent is in favour of Congress,” Maheshwari added.

On a question as to what will help the Congress come to power in UP again, Maheshwari said that with the coming of Rahul Gandhi, the situation in UP will change. He pointed out that with the help of Rahul, Sonia won the Rae Barely Lok sabha by-election with a huge margin.
