THE CONGRESS on Saturday said that Swati Mudliyar, who had accused some Congress leaders of having sexually exploited her in connivance with her mother and brother, was lying under the influence of BJYM leader Sanjay Deshmukh and her friend Archana Mishra, who is also a BJYM member.

Addressing a press conference, State Congress spokesperson Manak Agrawal said that Swati’s allegations were unfounded and fake could be gauged from the ‘fact’ that she had lodged complaint against her mother with the district Superintendent of Police (SP) and women police station by different names.

While, she lodged complaint with the SP by the name of Sugandha Mudliyar, in her complaint at the women police station, her name is Swati Mudliyar. In her complaint at the women police station, name of Sanjay Deshmukh and his mobile number has also been given.

Stating that Swati’s allegations prima facie appear to be fake, he said that names of Congress leaders involved in sexual exploitation as told by Swati on news channels seem to have been given to her by someone else with the intention to malign their name.

Agrawal further said that Swati has maintained that she used to be under the influence of drugs when raped and in this situation, it does not seem possible that she would know the names of persons involved in the act and their links with the Congress party.

He said that Swati had run away from her home several times and in the missing report lodged with the police, names of Imran and Zahid were given as suspects. Her allegation that she used to be kept confined in her home also does not seem to be true as she was working  with a telecom company till recently.

Agrawal accused Sanjay Deshmukh of misleading the girl into naming Congress leaders in her statement and demanded that the Director General of Police (DGP) should himself monitor investigations into the matter and a medical test of the girl should be immediately conducted to  know the veracity of her allegation.
