The Congress rally in the national capital slated for Wednesday where party chief Sonia Gandhi was to distribute provisional regularisation certificates to unauthorised colonies has been postponed in the wake of the recent serial blasts.
"It is not proper to hold a rally now in the wake of Saturday's serial blasts. So we have decided to postpone the rally," DPCC chief Jai Prakash Aggarwal told PTI.
The fresh date for the rally will be announced later, he said.
The rally at the Ram Lila Maidan would apparently have been the launch of the Congress campaign for the coming Delhi Assembly elections.
Gandhi was to distribute provisional regularisation certificates to representatives of Resident Welfare Associations of over 1,400 unauthorised colonies in the national capital during the rally.
The Delhi government also brought out public notices in leading newspapers announcing postponement of the programme.
