Despite cross voting by one of the directors, Congress nominees Narendra Patel and Ajit Thakor were today re-elected as President and Vice-President respectively of the Baroda Milk Dairy in Vadodara.

The dairy has an annual turnover of more than Rs 450 crore.

The party-wise strength in the dairy is Congress (11), BJP and independents (two each), three government nominees and a district registrar.

Patel polled 10 votes while his BJP rival Atul Patel secured 9. Thakor also polled 10 votes as against 9 secured by his BJP rival Rajesh Vadeli.

Talking to PTI after the poll, Patel said "dairy is setting up a Rs 8-crore chilling plant at Savli town which will help the producers to preserve milk for a longer time."
