Terming the delay on part of Congress party to announce a candidate from the Kathua-Udhampur constituency as "confusion and nervousness resulting from overwhelming response to BJP's campaign", BJP candidate for Kathua-Udhampur-Doda parliamentary constituency, Jitendra Singh, said it is a compliment to the people who are extending support to Narendra Modi.

Addressing a press conference, Singh said the enthusiasm of people for BJP campaign in Kathua, Bani, Basohli, Billawar, Hiranagar, Udhampur and Reasi during the first phase of electioneering has sounded alarm bells for Congress, as a result of which none of the Congress leaders is ready to take up the cudgels for.

Singh, who had to postpone his Thursday visit to Doda and Kishtwar on account of bad weather, said wherever he has gone, people have come out wholeheartedly in support of the BJP because they believe the party can liberate them from the clutches of corruption, mis-governance and dynasty rule.

"Kathua-Udhampur-Doda is a vast and heterogeneous constituency with variable problems in each area," said Jitendra, and added that if given representation in Lok Sabha, BJP would raise issues ranging from border area problems in Kathua and lack of tourism in Reasi to communal strife in Kishtwar.
