Welcoming Shibu Soren's resignation, the Congress tonight said it was proper that the JMM chief did not seek floor test having failed to muster majority.
"It is proper that Shibu Soren resigned after knowing he had no majority. It is always good to put in papers instead of going to house without majority," the leader of opposition, Rajendra Prasad Singh of the Congress, told PTI over phone.
"If our high command directs us to initiate government formation we will go ahead, if not we won't," he said when asked whether the Congress would take initiative for formation of government after Soren's resignation.
He said the party would meet tomorrow and held discussions with pre-poll ally Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantric).
