Making a strong appeal to vote for development and progress, senior Congress leader Kapil Sibal today said only his party could ensure “inclusive growth” in the country.
“Only Congress can take the country forward and ensure welfare of all the sections of the society. The forces that believe in dividing the society in the name of religion cast and creed must be defeated,” Sibal said addressing an election rally here.
Highlighting the achievements of the UPA Government, Sibal, the Congress candidate from Chandni Chowk constituency, said that ensuring "inclusive growth" was the main aim of the of Congress-led government.
He also accused the BJP of resorting to "divisive politics" for gaining electoral mileage. "We should focus on issues related to development. The election should be fought on real issues."
Sibal appealed to women and youth to vote in large numbers saying Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi are committed to ensure all-round development of the country.
Addressing the gathering, party in-charge of Delhi Oscar Fernandes exuded confidence of a better performance by the Congress this time as compared to 2004 polls.
He later said the party is expected to finalise the candidates for North East Delhi and South Delhi constituencies by this evening.
