BHOPAL DIVISION girls’ cricket team continued its winning spree with the help of another brilliant performance by skipper Shweta Mishra in the under-15 State-level schools cricket tournament that began at Guna on Wednesday. Bhopal registered a facile 60-run win over Rewa.
After winning the toss, Bhopal decided to bat first. Gupreet Kaur opened the innings with Shweta. However, Gupreet mis-hit a Sapna delivery and returned to pavilion when the score was yet to reach the double figures.
Once again Shweta joined forces with Kritika and the two stitched a good partnership. Playing according to her style of scoring quick runs, skipper Shweta scored a quick-fire 71 off just 50 deliveries, 14 of which she sent to boundaries. The partnership realised 128 runs in 15 overs.
Kritika supported her well by playing an important 23-run innings. However, the team lost two wickets in quick succession after their departure. Priya Sharma of Rewa claimed two wickets.
As was expected, Bhopal made the target tough for the opponents. Shewta excelled in bowling too. She scalped three wickets after conceding five runs in the three overs. Gurpreet, who failed to perform with bat, brought smiles for the team-mates in bowling. She claimed two wickets for five runs. Shweta was declared man of the match.
