The case related to mysterious death of a police head constable has taken a new turn. The city police on Thursday arrested three persons from Vasundhara on charges of the murder and revealed that a group of four friends, including the victim, were homosexuals.
Mahipal Singh, 42, was found dead in his flat at Preet Vihar in the Badalpur area of Gautam Budh Nagar district on September 20 last year.
Singh, a resident of Bulandshahr district, lived in Vasundhara area of Ghaziabad.
The police said the three friends poisoned Mahipal when he ventured out of the group and had affairs with other men.
The three accused, who were arrested on Thursday, have been identified as Vinod Tyagi, Manoj Khatri and Shyam Singh Yadav. “Tyagi liked the victim who had affairs with other men. This infuriated the group,” superintendent of police (SP) JK Shahi told Hindustan Times.
On the day of the murder, the four men assembled at Sahibabad and later went to the Preet Vihar flat of the victim. “There, all of them had alcohol and the three accused allegedly mixed some poisonous substance into the victim’s drink, which led to his death,” the SP added.
According to the police, bottles of alcohol, glasses and condoms were found from the flat where Singh was poisoned to death.
Tyagi, aged 40, works as a senior officer with a private company in Chapraula while Khatri, 28, works at a reputed company in Site-IV industrial area in Ghaziabad. Yadav also works as a service manager with a private firm.
