Constable held for info leak

india Updated: Aug 15, 2006 18:22 IST

CONSTABLE DINESH Singh posted at Civil Lines police station, was arrested for leaking information of arrest to a criminal. The SSP, who ordered the arrest of the constable  under various sections of the IPC, also sent inspector Amar Singh to police lines as the constable was posted under him. However, police sources on condition of anonymity expressed surprise over the punishment to the inspector as he had nothing to do with the incident. It was the constable who was responsible for his act, they said. He was caught because the criminal’s mobile was under surveillance.

Injured: Ashish Bashak (25) son of Nirmal Bashak, a resident of South Malaka under Kotwali police station, sustained serious injuries when his motorbike reportedly skidded while he was driving near DRM Office, Nawab Yususf Road, under Civil Lines police station on Monday. According to reports, he is an employee of ICICI and admitted to the SRN Hospital.
