A security constable on duty in Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi's official residence in Guwahati on Saturday night allegedly shot himself dead, police sources said.
Gogoi was not at his residence during the incident as he was on an official tour to Assam's Kaziranga National Park, the sources added.
Bhaskar Basu, on duty in the chief minister's official residence at Khanapara area, allegedly shot himself dead with his own service rifle in an inebriated condition at around 10.20 pm, the sources said.
Senior police officers have rushed to the spot. The service rifle of Basu has been confiscated and investigations were on, they said.
