A police constable was on Sunday suspended and sent to jail on charges of forcing some children into unnatural sex in Ballia township circle area in Begusarai district, police said today.

Taking cognizance of the inquiry report by the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Anand Kumar, the Superintendent of Police (SP) Vinay Kumar ordered suspension of the constable Suresh Singh for forcing some handicapped boys into unnatural sex with him last night, the sources said.

The errant constable was later taken into custody after registration of a case against him under section 377 of
the Indian Penal Code which criminalises sexual activity ''against the order of nature'' and sent to jail, they said.

Singh had taken some handicapped boys to the roof of the government building and had tried to indulge in unnatural sex with them before the boys raised an alarm.

The victims as well as the local people had protested with the senior police officials prompting the SP to order an inquiry into the matter.
