In a bid to make it to the Guinness Book of World Records, members of the Dalit community of Rajkot has brought out a unique copy of the Indian Constitution with extra large pages and the volume weighing about two tonnes.
Dalit leader Amarsinh Makwana said 276 pages of the Constitution were 'enlarged' to six feet wide and 12 feet long covering 72 square feet carpet area with the intention to make it to the Guinness.
The '6X12 square feet Constitution' would be put on display near Ambedkar statue at Civil Hospital Chawk on April 14 to mark Babasaheb Ambedkar's birth anniversary, Makwana said.
"We wanted to do something special to mark birth anniversary of Babasaheb Ambedkar, who was chairman of the Constitution Drafting Committee, and came up with the idea to enlarge some of the pages of the Constitution and get into the record books," Makwana said, adding that it took nearly three months to complete the hard work.
The enlarged pages weigh about two tonnes and would be kept on an acrylic stand near the Ambedkar statue here on April 14, he said.
