Aristotle once said, "Those who educate children well are more to be honoured than they who produce them; for these only gave them life, those the art of living well."

Teachers hold a special place in every child's life as they influence a child, right from kindergarten days to college days and perhaps beyond. It is they who prepare the child for his or her life in society.

Guiding children through the difficult terrain of school and education, teachers are one of the main pillars of a sound and progressive society. They bear the weight and responsibility of teaching and apart from parents, are the main source of knowledge and values for children.

The role played by teachers becomes a very important component and in fact play a major role as building blocks of our nation. Teachers work in close co-ordination with students to help them in building their future. They mould the students to bring out their skills or improvise them, teaching good habits/attitudes and helping them to become good citizens of the nation.

Today, education has the power to change the way a nation works, to help create a leader who can bring drastic changes to an economy and teachers will play a major part in making sure every child takes advantage of this power and help become a better citizen.

To salute their hard work and selfless dedication, a day is dedicated to them: Teachers Day. This day celebrates the undying spirit of teachers who play a hand in transforming a child to an adult.

This Teachers Day, show your teachers how indebted you are to them and how they made a difference in your lives.
