A case of murder has been registered against the 14 police officials involved in the alleged fake encounter of MBA graduate Ranbir Singh in Dehradun.
The FIR under section 302 (murder) of the IPC was registered against the policemen involved in Ranbir’s “encounter” by the victim’s father, Ravindra Pal Singh, on Monday night.
But none of the policemen has been arrested so far.
Father claims he was threatened
An FIR has also been registered against two DSPs Ajay Kumar and GC Tamta on the basis of Ravindra’s complaint that they roughed up his family members outside the place where the autopsy was being done.
Talking to mediapersons, Ravindra said, “Circle Officer Ajay Kumar threatened me when I called him up to confirm the incident on Friday night.”
Abhinav Kumar, SSP Dehradun, said, “The matter is being investigated. The department has already sent the officers involved in the encounter to police lines.”
Ready for CBI probe
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhariyal Nishank has said that his government is ready for a CBI probe into the death of the youth.
“I have full faith in the CB-CID (which is investigating the case). But if the family members of Ranbir want the CBI to investigate the case, we will not shy away from it also," Nishank said after meeting Ranbir's father on Monday.
