Four policemen, including an assistant sub inspector, who were killed in a naxal attack on a police patrol at Sonobazar in Jamui district on Saturday would get a compensation of Rs 10 lakh each, police said on Sunday.
Additional director general of police Neelmani said in Patna that the government has announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh each to the victims.
Besides, the family members of the slain cops would also get Rs 12.5 lakh each as insurance money, he said.
Neelmani said that a body of a Maoist killed in last night's encounter was recovered from the place of occurrence and there was a possibility of many more naxalites being killed in the encounter.
Reinforcements comprising a team of CRPF and STF had been dispatched and I G (operation) and Bhagalpur Inspector General of police would camp in and supervise the combing operation to nab the naxalites, Neelmani said.
Around 45-50 Maoists had attacked a police patrol party with bombs and fired indiscriminately, killing four policemen on the spot and injuring two others.
