The Dankore police have recovered a countrymade pistol that farmers used to fire at policemen on May 7. On Saturday, the police launched a manhunt to nab some accused farmers who are still at large.
“The weapon was recovered on the basis of the information provided by Kiran Pal, a farmer accused in the Bhatta violence who was taken on remand on Friday. Last week, he had surrendered before the district court,” said DSP Ambesh Tyagi.
“He has revealed the whereabouts of the other accused who are at large. Police teams have been sent to some suspected hideouts to arrest them,” the official said.
"We have applied for the custody of the other accused, Gajje Singh, who surrendered before the court three days ago,”
“The three other accused —Neeraj Malik, Manoj Singh and Prem Vir (II) — are also at large. Each of them carry a reward of Rs 15,000 on their arrest,” said Tyagi.
“Tevatia and eight others were charged under the Gangster Act on Friday,” Tyagi added. “Besides these criminals, there are around two dozen other accused farmers who are at large,” said Tyagi.
