Cops' remand extended in encounter case

The Metropolitan Court in Ahmedabad has extended the police custody of the 3 IPS officers involved in the Sohrabuddin fake encounter case by three days till May 8.

The three IPS officers arrested in connection with the Sohrabuddin fake encounter case were on Saturday produced before the Metropolitan Court in Ahmedabad which extended their police custody by three days till May 8.

The Gujarat CID, the agency probing the case, also filed an application seeking the court's nod to conduct Narco analysis tests on the officers -- Border Range DIG DG Vanzara, Superintendent of Police of Gujarat Intelligence Bureau Rajkumar Pandian and SP of Alwar (Raj) Dineshkumar MN.

The CID had sought extension of police custody by seven days for the officers on the ground that they need to find out more details about the murder of Kausar Bi, the wife of Sohrabuddin.

Earlier, the three were brought to the court amidst tight security at around 10 am.

A group of people gathered outside the court shouted slogans in favour of Vanzara. His family members were also in the court premises to hear the proceedings.
