india Updated: Dec 09, 2006 00:52 IST

A 24-year-old man was seriously injured when police allegedly threw him before a truck at Ingoria on Friday. However, the police denied the allegation and said that the victim Narendra Jat was called for questioning but he ran away from the police station resulting in the mishap.

Narendra, resident of Malikheri said police took him from his house to the police station charging him with purchasing stolen articles and demanded bribe of Rs 50,000.

He alleged that when he denied that he was not involved in any such crime, the inspector UP Singh directed his subordinates to thrash him, adding police acted against him under the influence of a group at the village.

Narendra has been sent to Indore under critical condition. Superintendent of Police Jaideep Prasad admitted that Narendra was taken for interrogation to the police station but denied that he was thrown before a truck by the cops.

He said two constables have been suspended as Narendra managed to flee from police custody. Barnagar SDOP has been asked to inquire into the matter.
