A young man and woman committed suicide by jumping before a speeding train on the Faridabad-Palwal railway track on Wednesday morning. The Government Railway Police (GRP) recovered their bodies from the track, which is about two kilometres away from Palwal.
“We also recovered a suicide note,” said Investigating officer, GRP Palwal Om Prakash said. He identified the two as Chetram and Kirti. Both belonged to Agwanpur village in Palwal, he said. “The suicide note makes it clear that the two were in love. But it does not elaborate on the reasons behind this extreme step,” the investigating officer said. “The boy was doing an ITI course in Faridabad while Kirti was pursuing BSC from a local college,” he added.
Police said none of their families knew about their affair even though the two belonged to the same village and caste. The bodies have been handed over to their respective families after autopsy. A case under section 174 of CrPC has been registered.
