CPI on Thursday announced a state-wide agitation on October 2 to press for resettlement of Tamils lodged in various camps in Sri Lanka.

The party also said it would organise a joint conference with the CPI (M) in Chennai on October 7.

According to a CPI release, a decision to this effect was taken at the party's state executive committe meeting held at Tirupur on Thursday, attended among others by CPI national secretary D Raja.

The agitation would be held in district headquarters, the release said adding that national level leaders were expected to participate in the joint conference at Chennai.

The party will also stage month-long protests on the issue in November, it said.
