The CPI(M) on Friday said it would align with Uttar Pradesh's ruling Samajwadi Party in upcoming assembly elections in the state.

CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechury described Samajwadi Party as the "biggest secular" party in UP and said his party would go with him in the UP poll.

During an interaction with reporters, he appealed to secular forces not to allow division of secular votes and contest election from a common platform.
