THE BHOPAL district unit of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) today held a demonstration before the district collectorate to protest the alleged irregularities in the relief work related to the flood-affected people of Bhopal.
Later, a delegation of the party inclusive of district secretary Pramod Pradhan, P N Verma, Devyani Ghosh and Sadhna Karnik met the district administration and submitted a memorandum.
Additional Collector Kavindra Kivayat and ADM M B Ojha assured that an all-party meet on the issue, as demanded by the party would be held soon. They also assured that surveys would be carried out in those parts where they have not yet been done, as also medical facility would be provided at earliest. A large number of common people also participated in the rally till the collectorate.
Meanwhile, the State unit of the CPM has condemned the attack on party politburo member Brinda Karat at Raipur on Monday. The party has said that the attack on Karat by the Shiv Sena and Bajrang Dal members shows their fascist attitude, and said that this is not possible without the support of the government. The party has demanded action on the culprits.
